The Expendables

An evening back in August we hung out with Hansson in Linköping and ate pizza at Butterfly and went to the movies to see The Expendables. Pictures from that day have all been deleted, by little stupid old me… So you’ll just have to imagine the worlds tastiest pizza at Butterfly with chicken, garlic, curry, mozzarella, onion, sun dried tomatoes and arugula. Yum!!!

Then we bought some movie candy and we watched The Expendables

  1. I LOVED IT!
  2. Have you seen the cast list – Stallone, Statham, Li, Lundgren, Roberts, Couture, Austin, Crewes, Rourke, Willis, Schwartzenegger, and so on.
  3. The dialog and the jabbering was brilliant
  4. The action was good
  5. I loved all the tributes and the smart nods towards other movies and other actors
  6. It was their Snakes on a Plane.
  7. There are rumors about a sequel – do I need to tell you that I’m excited about that?
  8. Sure it’s a bunch of old dudes running around shooting, but it’s done with a sparkle in the eye and they really acknowledge that they are getting older….
This is a movie that I’d love to own, it could easily become one of my favorites alongside The Three Musketeers, Dogdeball, The Thirteenth Warrior, Die Hard 4, Snakes of a Plane, Walking Tall, ConAir, Young Guns I & II, xXx (yes, I know, many of you probably think my movie taste is the worst ever).

Barney Ross leads the “Expendables”, a band of highly skilled mercenaries including knife enthusiast Lee Christmas, martial arts expert Yin Yang, heavy weapons specialist Hale Caesar, demolitionist Toll Road and loose-cannon sniper Gunner Jensen. When the group is commissioned by the mysterious Mr. Church to assassinate the merciless dictator of a small South American island, Barney and Lee head to the remote locale to scout out their opposition. Once there, they meet with local rebel Sandra and discover the true nature of the conflict engulfing the city. When they escape the island and Sandra stays behind, Ross must choose to either walk away and save his own life – or attempt a suicidal rescue mission that might just save his soul.

Haha =)

Yin Yang: It’s difficult.
Barney Ross: What?
Yin Yang: My life is difficult. I need more money.
Barney Ross: Why that?
Yin Yang: I work harder than the rest.
Barney Ross: No, you don’t.
Yin Yang: Yes, I do! Everything is harder for me. When I’m hurt, wound is bigger, ’cause I’m smaller. When I travel I need to go farther.
Barney Ross: I know, because you’re smaller, right?
Yin Yang: Yes.
[pause]
Yin Yang: I need more money.
Barney Ross: I know, you told me.

Rating: KKKKK/5 K
