Gotland 2010 – day 13

The nights rocking, because of the typhoon-like winds, had made it some what difficult to sleep. And since we couldn’t have any of the windows open, it was really hot in the Rv. Although the humidity was gone – so I guess bad thing brings one good thing.

We woke up to a beuatiful sunny day and we hoped that it would remain sunny all day. A sday at the beach was just what the doctor had ordered.

Our beautiful nightspot.

We made our regular stop at Fårö informtaion center, partially because they have really great toilets there. And as any one who has lived in an RV knows, you always look for a toilet along the road… ALWAYS take the oppertunity to go to the bathroom.

Anyways, while we were there we decided to visit Fårö Church some more as well as visiting Ingmar Bergmans, Swedens most famous movie director/producers, grave. It’s one of those places that the tourist busses stop at – and therefor so did we, I mean, you should at least stop there once…

The final resting place of Ingrid and Ingmar Bergman.

We went to the center of Fårö, where the leather shop Ebbes is. It’s a place that I always visit every year. They have an amazing variety of lovely leather products, purses, jackets, skirts, dresses, gloves, pillows – you name it…

I bought a lovely black little purse – in real lamm skin leather for 140 kr. Which is about 10 dollars – pennies right? The bag was of such really nice leather quality – exactly how soft you want it too be… I love it!

After driving around the northern parts of Fårö a bit, it started to rain, but we wanted to go the beach at Skär. But since it had started to rain, we started to make lunch instead.

Andreas roasted some baugettes on the gas burners – RV style =)

For lunch we had kind of a Cappriccosa pizza pasta. In other words a sauce made from bacon, button mushrooms, onion, black olives, sun dried tomatoes, oregano and basil. Very yummy and one of my favorite sauces – becuase it tastes like pizza, but it isn’t as unhealthy =)

Then the weather looked up and the sun blessed us with it’s presence. Look how amazing the beach looked through the trees…

We set up our blankett and changed into our bathing suits… The waves were quite large and hit the shore with intencity… It was going to be great to go for a swim… The waves broke in about 5 or 6 places, which made lots of places to jump into the waves…

My baby along the shoreline…

We got into the water, about 20 C and it was beautiful. The waves were so much fun to jump into and the water was great. Andy and I were in for about 45 minutes – jumping in the waves and just enjoying the sun and water.

Then we got the bright idea to bring out the SLR, to take some pictues of the waves, and we stood in the water, right in one of the spots where the waves broke and Andy took lots of photographs and I told him when to jump and hold the camera as high up as he could – not to get it wet. And we got some awesome shots – and we didn’t get the camera wet =)

Then we layed on the beach and just chilled until the sun didn’t warm much any more.

We decided to sleep on Stenkusten on the north of Gotland, so we had to take the ferry back to the big island. But first, when passing Sylvis Döttrar, Fårös best café we stopped of for some coffee. I had a really good Lemon merenge pie and Andy had a vanilla créme bun and a chocolate ball. Yum! It’s a lovely place with everything “homebaked”, breads of many different types and cookies, sandwiches and cakes. Well worth a visit if you are near by.

Then we took the ferry south again and we, while we were in the area took the Grodde cache. Then we continued on towards Stenkusten.

Instead of our regular spot we went onwards towards a klint, or in English a cliff and made night there.

The sun was setting as we made night so we had to spend about 30 minutes photographing the sunset…

Unfortunetly it there wasn’t any wind in the evening which meant that we had about 1000000 mosquitos around the RV and somehow they started to make their way inside, inspite of the mosquito nets on all the windows. So after killing about 100 mosquitos, I’m not exadurating here, we closed all the windows and hoped for the best – unfortunetly they still got into the RV. And how I have NO idea…

We weren’t hungry so we didn’t make any dinner – however we munched on some watermelon and watched TV until it was time to sleep.
