Gotland

Gotland 2010 – day 9

This morning we woke up at around 10 and again had breakfast at Hotell Anna. I’m starting to get used to this service =)

We decided to take a really relaxing day, since I’m feeling the start of another wave of Sinus infection and Anna and Andy were feeling tired. We just needed to do nothing – and just relax.

We started the second Arn movie – Arn, Rikets vid vägens slut, and watched it while using our computers and relaxing. It was really nice to just do nothing and relax and catch up on some of my blogg-reading. The weather is brilliant, sunny and about 29 C, but it fellt REALLY hot – so doing something was kind of out of the question.

In the afternoon, after the movie was done, we decided to go and try to have an afternoon nap. And I’ll tell you, I didn’t have any problem falling asleep after reading a couple of pages in my new book.

At 5 p.m. we made our way down town towards the Medival Fair. Today it was a nicer atmosphere – it was less panicy and stuffed. We could walk around and look without bumping into people and it was much cooler down here, with a slight breeze.

I loved these lanterns – probably made with some kind of hide. The light in them was beautiful…

The beautiful citadel walls in the golden evening sunlight.

The ocean just outside the walls…

After a couple of hours at the fair and a dinner of grilled lamm-filled pita. We decided to try to find a place to have an evening fika – we thought that Norrgatt might be open, but unfortunetly they close early on Fridays.

Then Anna remembered a place that she had wanted to visit named Strandhuset (The Beachhouse) in Snäck. It’s about 5 minutes from Visby and it’s located right on the beach.

We ordered some desserts and just loved the place. The light was beautiful, the sun was setting and the atmosphere was just magical.

Anna and I ordered (we apparently always ordered the same thing) White chocolate pannacotta with a raspberry sorbet with liquorice fudge. I also had a latte (my first in quite a while – can you say latte withdrawal 😉 ). It was incredable! It just melted in my mouth – YUM!

Andy ordered a Saffranspankaka (Saffron pancake) and he gave it a 4/5 – another hit, in other words!

Strandhuset was a brilliant place, well worth a visit! We decided that it would be really nice to go back there and have dinner some day, maybe a glas of wine too. Really a nice place, very romantic and just a brillant summer location (although they are open all year around).

Now we’re back at home and we are sitting infront of the TV and we’re enjoying some cinnamon buns and Danish pastry bought at the Medival Fair. Yeah, we’re having a fika -again – we aren’t seeing a problem with that =)

Good night folks!
