Gotland

Gotland 2010 – day 2

It’s our second wedding aniversery today! I’ve been married to the most awesome man for 2 whole years, and I hope to have many many more =) I love you Baby Bear!

After waking up at around 9, we made and ate breakfast and tried to decide what the day would bring. SInce it’s our wedding day, we had preciously decided that we’d buy smoked prawns and smoked salmon fileets at our favorite smokers in Sysne. But other than that we decided to just take the day as it came.

It happened to be an absolutly beautiful day, with sun and about 25 degrees, so hopefully we’d get a couple of hours in the sun.

Wheels up at 10.21 a.m. and drove towards Roma. We happened by a shoe store, Eklunds Skor and we just had to stop. I came out with a pair of GoreTex Timberland shoes and a pair of Sholl slippers – a picture will come later. Great prices =)

We stopped off and grabbed, 3 caches, Rånet – se the cellphone picture below ( a cache we had looked for last year but couldn’t find), Var är jag? and Guldrupe Fornborg, before we stopped of for some lunch.

After lunch we decided to go to Sysne and buy our dinner.

They have pretty much all kinds of fish here, smoked, cured, raw – you name it and they both fish and cook it themself – so you know it is fresh. And it isn’t too expensive either.

We, as you might have noticed, LOVE their smoked prawns =) The point outside the fish shop is quite plesant if you want to just walk around. And there is a really nice inland rauk-area close by.

And then we decided to go towards the north west, to Stenkusten, to be able to have a sun set, were we were going to make night kamp and also make use of the lovely sunshine.

When we passed Vitvikens Café we just had to stop and have some afternoon fika (coffee) and check out the beach in the area. Andy had his Saffranspankaka ( a Gotlandish speciallity cake, made with saffron), which he LOVES and wants to eat every day. Although he doesn’t always find them good. Todays got the grade of 3/5, which is ok. I ate a chocolate cake that was good, 3/5. The beach looked so inviting, but we puched on.

At Stenkusten (one of our favorite spots) we set up night and placed ourselves in the sunshine with a drink and some snacks. We sat in the sun a couple hours until it was time for dinner.

We opened a bottle of Vida Organica and had with the prawns appetizers and main course salmon fileets. We made garlic bread with the lovely prawns and boiled potatoes and a holandaise sauce with the salmon fileets.

For desert we had some Lindt chocolates and desert cheeses, a cambozola and a brie with crackers. Yummy!

As you might have figured out, our stomaches were so full from the wonderful food, we didn’t really want to move too much after dinner. Although we played some cards and just made our aniversery ours =) And the sunset was beautiful – se Andy’s picture.

A great day – a great aniversery and a lovely dinner.
